There’s something about Paris . . .
Of course, It’s Paris Fashion Week! “Semaine des Createurs du Mode”
It all began when fashion designer Charles Frederick Worth started showing clients a pre-prepared selection of original designs in Paris, forming the idea of a collection. He shocked his audiences by presenting his clothing on real, live women, thus creating the role of models. These “fêtes” continued throughout the 20th century, bringing in elements of staging and music all over the world.
Paris Fashion Week started in 1973 and Milan was the next to follow in 1979. Just over a decade later London joined in with an event staged in a West London car park . . . And the rest is history.
Today, Paris, Milan, London, and New York Fashion Week remain one of the most important weeks of the year for those in the fashion industry, as well as for those of us who are simply fashion-obsessed. 🙂
Paris is the biggest, brightest and most fashionable of all the fashion weeks. Paris Fashion Week happens twice a year and depending on your point of view it is either the best time to be in the city, or it could very well be the worst. Hundreds of fashion editors, assistants, stylists, models and the general cool fashion loving crowd descend on the French capital to see what they’ll be wearing the next year.
The big boys brands such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Givenchy will exclusively exhibit their collections in iconic Parisian style.
Paris Fashion Week, has the objective to show the fashion industry what’s in in the season and what is definitely out. Paris Fashion Week and it is divided into three categories: Men’s Fashion, Haute Couture, and Prêt-à-Porter (ready to wear) Paris’s cultural diversity as a city is often highlighted by the fashion weeks as designers from all over the world choose Paris as the city to host their shows.
Celebrating Paris Fashion Week . . . September 30 – October 7, 2015 . . . C’est La Vie! 🙂
