Today only comes only once in four years … So make today February 29th be extra special . . . Take that extra leap . . . Happy Leap Year Everyone! 🙂
Well, once every four years, we all get an extra 24 hours … when leap year rolls around. Nearly every four years, we add an extra day to the calendar in the form of February 29, also known as Leap Day. Simply put, these additional 24 hours are built into the calendar to ensure that it stays in line with the Earth’s movement around the Sun. The extra day was added to February because the Roman emperors named months after themselves (July and August, for example) and then kept on poaching extra days to make their months longer. February was left short at 28 days, and was the obvious choice to even out the calendar. In simple words, it’s just an added extra special bonus day for love! 🙂
Women can propose to men. This tradition is probably the best known and dates back to 5th Century Ireland when St Brigid allegedly struck a deal with St Patrick, allowing women to propose on February 29.
Of course, society has since evolved to a point where such traditions aren’t needed these days, but for those of us who are hopelessly believing in love & love will conquers all, a very cute love & leap move to watch is “Leap Year“ (2010) staring Amy Adams & Mathew Goode. I sincerely adore that movie! 🙂
You are never too old to set another goal … or to dream a new dream! 🙂
Bonjour Leap Year Monday! 🙂
